QinetiQ Australia has opened a new office in Melbourne, formally unveiled by Assistant Minister for Defence the Hon. Peter Khalil MP and Senator Raff Ciccone.
The opening marks a multimillion-dollar investment by the British-headquartered defence technology company in its Australian operations. The facility has been designed to support research, engineering, and programme delivery, with secure workspaces and collaborative environments intended to serve QinetiQ Australia’s sovereign workforce.
QinetiQ has maintained a presence in Australia for a number of years, providing test and evaluation, advisory, and technology development services to the Australian Defence Force and broader national security community. The company operates across several domains including maritime, air, land, and cyber, and has been expanding its footprint in the Indo-Pacific as Australian defence investment has grown substantially in response to the regional security environment.
Corry Neale, Chief Executive of QinetiQ Australia, described the office as an investment in both capability and people. “This new Melbourne office represents a significant investment in our capabilities and workforce. It strengthens our ability to deliver innovative, mission-critical solutions for our customers while deepening our partnerships across government, industry and academia,” she said, as quoted in the company’s release. “Victoria is a key hub for advanced technology and defence innovation. Expanding our presence here enables us to access world-class talent and collaborate more closely with our partners.”
The new office is expected to support collaboration with government and industry partners while retaining skilled employment in Victoria, according to the company.
