BAE Systems has formed a partnership with REACT, a UK-based disaster relief and humanitarian aid charity, according to a recent press release from the company.

The partnership includes a full funding of REACT’s £30,000 UK Flood Appeal, enabling the charity to recruit, train, and equip teams of volunteer flood responders nationwide.

With over 5 million British homes at risk of flooding due to increased occurrences of heavy rain, overflowing rivers, and sea surges, the need for disaster relief has grown significantly. “This winter, more than 5 million British homes are at risk of flooding,” the press release noted.

The funding from BAE Systems will support the creation of four teams of specialist flood responders. These teams will be equipped with a range of tactical equipment, including protective and thermal clothing, floatation devices, throwlines, and inflatable rafts, to effectively aid in disaster relief.

REACT, established in 2015, specialises in transforming the skills and experiences of military veterans into emergency responders.

“We’re proud to partner with REACT to help extend its nationwide network of flood responders,” said Gabby Costigan, Group Managing Director Business Development at BAE Systems, as quoted in the press release.

Toby Wicks, CEO of REACT Disaster Response, expressed gratitude for the support: “We’re incredibly grateful to BAE Systems for its generous donation to support REACT’s flood response ambitions,” he said in the press release. The funding will enable REACT to establish its first UK flood response capability, significantly enhancing its support capabilities during flood emergencies.

In 2022 alone, BAE Systems say they contributed more than £11.5 million to various community-support projects, further underscoring its commitment to local communities, education, and the armed forces.

Why am I seeing an ad for The Church of the Eternal God saying “Will Germany and Europe attack America and the UK”? What is this rubbish?

It’s called ‘Artificial Intelligence’, I’m afraid. An algorithm. You know, the kind of thing we’re betting the future military house on. Nothing to do with UKDJ

It has everything to do with the UKDJ, they can easily stop this kind of thing by changing the parameters of their ad server and sources of demand. Happy to help here if they don’t have a skilled ad ops professional.

Interesting. I wonder why we have not seen service personnel called in to help out with flood relief duties during the recent storms ie MACC.
