The exercise included the first landing onto the ship by a Commando Helicopter Force Merlin helicopter, as well as and Marines landing on beaches using landing craft.

Captain James Parkin of HMS Bulwark, said:

“Intensive amphibious training of this nature is vital to ensure we are ready to respond when the government requires HMS Bulwark to act.”

The activity is part of a two-week exercise called South West Sword, and involves units from across the South West.
