For the eighth consecutive time, the Republic of Slovenia is hosting the international Joint Terminal Attack Controller exercise Adriatic Strike 2019 from 2nd to 8th of June.

During Adriatic Strike,  the Slovenian Armed Forces will collaborate with 24 other NATO and Partner members and air platforms to provide JTAC. For the third time, the exercise will include members of the Deployable Air Command and Control Centre from Poggio Renatico, Italy, which forms a part of the Allied Air Command structure.

Slovenia is involved with half of the 700 participants; NATO Allies from Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States of America and Partners Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ireland are sending their staff and aircraft to further develop common NATO tactics, techniques and procedures in the field of JTACs and multi-domain operations.

JTAC training will be conducted on the new JTAC simulator at the Cerklje ob Krki airfield and at five other locations around Slovenia. The exercise will include both live fire support in the Postojna training range and simulated air support provide for a realistic training scenarios. Most of the aircraft supporting the exercise will be based at the Cerklje ob Krki and Brnik Air Bases, while Croatia, Hungary and Italy will operate their aircraft from respective home bases.

The basic JTAC mission is to provide the commander in the field with advice on multi-domain fire support. On the ground, they provide a continuous link to air support in the form of reconnaissance, convoy escorting and control of the surroundings, to provide comprehensive protection of own forces.
