RAF Scampton will be the new home of the RAF International Air Show from next year.

The Royal Air Force had previously confirmed that the Air Show would not be returning to RAF Waddington, south of Lincoln, due to ‘significant security concerns and operational risks’.

The show has previously been held at RAF Finningley, in Doncaster, before the base closed, later to become a civil airport.

However, the Royal Air Force has conducted an extensive survey of alternative sites in the East of England and Minister of State for Defence, the Rt. Hon. Earl Howe, has written to Gainsborough MP Sir Edward Leigh today, Friday. February 19, and confirmed that an Air Show at RAF Scampton will now be able to go ahead in 2017.

Well that was obvious since the MOD said the reds were going nowhere and they are pretty much the only squadron based there so they have an empty base used rarely anyway

A great piece of news. A lovely place and 2 mins flying time for a chunk of whatever we have left in the RAF to get there.
