Royal Navy survey vessel trains for firefighting

HMS Scott ships company continuously trains in how to deal with incidents on board. The most recent exercise included casualty management and firefighting.

The vessel tweeted the following.

The Royal Navy say here that HMS Scott is the largest survey vessel in Western Europe, and the fifth largest vessel in the Royal Navy. Named for the famous Arctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott, she also has an auxiliary role as a mine countermeasures vessel.

HMS Scott

“HMS Scott is an ocean survey vessel and is the third Royal Navy ship to carry the name. The only vessel of her class, she can remain at sea for up to 300 days a year, thanks to her novel crew rotation system.”

Antarctic George The other pole and another thing when did Survey ships go from White to Grey is it because she now doubles as a warship 2 for 1 Hull there was a time when the Hydragraphic/ Survey ships were seen by the world as the best for Ocean surveying now its an auxiliary mine countermeasures vessel so it would be necessary too swap SRs to Mws and vice versa when and if the need arises

HMS Scott I believe has never been white, neither have the other newer Survey ships Echo and Enterprise which replaced Hecla, Hydra, and the older vessels.

“there was a time when the Hydragraphic/ Survey ships were seen by the world as the best for Ocean surveying now its an auxiliary mine countermeasures vessel”

Not in Scotts case. She has a specialist role supporting the Trident SSBNs surveying the ocean floor.

Yes mate. I was saying that as far as Scott is concerned I think she still is world class due to her pretty niche role. You were saying our survey ships are no longer considered that.
As for MCM no idea.

Mothership perhaps for MCM ,embarking stores and also medical needs as we had in the 80ts when we were out the Gulf, us mw crews used the Hms Herald as our mothership for stores and sickbay before the Dilliegence arrived

The Royal Navy do claim in that doc that Scott was an Arctic explorer! So if we read that second sentence as part of what the RN say, George is technically correct in reporting it. Although I believe a [sic] is traditionally appended in situations like this. It sent me scuttling to Wikipedia to see if Scott had had any earlier experience in the Arctic, but none appears.
