Russian assault ship Caesar Kunikov has today docked in Syria with a cargo of ammunition and weapons destined for the Syrian military, according to Russian media.

The vessel is believed to be involved in the operation to deliver weapons to the Syrian government for use against Islamic State.

The Caesar Kunikov is a Project 775 class landing ship designed for beach landings and can carry a 450 tonnes of cargo, the vessels can also be offloaded by dockside cranes. The ships have both bow and stern doors for loading and unloading vehicles and equipment.
