An Iranian Navy Jamaran-class warship has been struck by US forces during the opening phase of Operation Epic Fury, with US Central Command stating the vessel is sinking at a pier in Chah Bahar on the Gulf of Oman.

In a statement, CENTCOM said the ship was hit as part of coordinated strikes that began on 28 February, targeting Iranian military infrastructure including command and control facilities, air defences, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields.

The command described the vessel as a Jamaran-class corvette. The Jamaran class, also known as the Moudge class, displaces around 1,500 tonnes and is equipped for anti-surface, anti-air and anti-submarine warfare. The lead ship of the class entered service in 2010 and is among the most capable domestically built surface combatants in the Iranian fleet.

CENTCOM stated that following the initial wave of strikes, US and partner forces defended against what it described as hundreds of Iranian missile and drone attacks. It said there were no reports of US casualties and that damage to US installations was minimal.

A social media post from CENTCOM showed a graphic identifying the Jamaran-class vessel and its reported location in southeastern Iran. The command did not immediately provide further detail the extent of damage beyond stating the ship was sinking.

  1. An Iranian missile also struck a french naval base at Abu Dhabi.
Lets see if they can find their stones and send one or two back in response

    • Certainly hope some pre-planning has been devoted to reducing the estimated Iranian inventory of 3K to 6+K of naval mines. 🤞 Otherwise, the Iranian Navy should present an interesting SINKEX opportunity.

  2. “Hey chat what should I call this Operation? I know ‘Op Epic Fury lololol!11!!”

FFS. That’s got Kegsbreath written all over it.

  3. Do you think it even occurs to these Gulf Arab states to fight back themselves, even a teensy weensy bit, when Iran uses them of missile practice?

    • The Saudi’s have threatened just that.
We will probably have their guys in action relatively shortly, since Iran’s big brain plan seems to be piss everyone off in the region and beyond

    • I am a assuming that right now they are restraining, to avoid blue on blue incidents with US or Israeli forces.

  4. I don’t see how playing whack a mole with the Iranian leadership is going to change anything. For anything to change it will be necessary to entirely destroy the Revolutionary Guard and the culture which supports it, and that will require a lot of boots on the ground. I don’t think the Iranians can do that for themselves.

      • Iran is an example of what a theocracy will do to democracy….perhaps a warning for the UK hard/extreme left that aligns itself with radical Islam (e.g., Greens and Labour). 1979 is a prime example of what Islamo-Leftism ends up with…The Iranian revolution of 1979 tells us everything that might happen in the UK if the left aligns with radical Islam as they are now. It’s a poison in UK society and something entirely constructed by the left. Let’s hope that Iran is a salutary warning to the UK before it’s too late. The left have never been the sharpest of intellects but hopefully they read history before it’s too late for the UK.

        • Interesting theory. For myself I think of the Labour party as the political wing of Methodism – methodical methods, social justice complefe with Welsh abstinence . Not quite sure where Islam fits in, although Muslims are teetotal so I suppose there’s a connection there. The Greens only fit in because Polanski is a chancer. 😂

    • A less than perfect, but doable option would be for a 24 hour lull in bombing on Friday, the usual day of anti government protest. Just have armed Reaper drones above major Iranian cities. If revolutionary guards attack protestors then the Reapers can launch Hellfires at the IRGC. Meanwhile in Britain, we wait for Starmer to proscribe the IRGC, as the EU has done.

  5. I have seen a ariel photo of this Corvette on fire.
She is moored next to two other ships which appear undamaged.
Wondering why they were not hit to.

    • They probably spun up the radar and maybe locked onto something USN.

AShM or gunnery was then inevitable.

      Demonstration completed.
