Babcock has agreed a two-year extension to its Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP) contract with the Ministry of Defence, continuing support for Royal Navy surface ships, the company has announced.

The extension maintains the full scope of the existing contract, covering ship engineering delivery and management for platforms including Type 23 frigates, amphibious warfare ships, Sandown-class minehunters and landing craft.

Work will continue to be delivered primarily from Babcock’s facilities at Devonport and Rosyth, where teams provide engineering expertise, infrastructure and support services intended to sustain fleet readiness.

The programme forms part of the wider Surface Ship Support Alliance, supporting the maintenance and availability of key Royal Navy vessels.

Phil Craig, Managing Director of Marine Programmes at Babcock, said: “This extension is a testament to the dedication and global expertise of the Babcock surface ship support teams across the entire Marine sector and is symbolic of our strong partnership with the MOD.”

He added: “Together with the Ministry of Defence, and other Surface Ship Support Alliance partners, we will build upon this FMSP extension to engage in the development of subsequent surface ship support contracts which deliver the Royal Navy’s needs in the future.”
