Authorities are reportedly responding to an active shooter at the Naval Medical Centre in San Diego. 

The centre has five medical mobilisation teams including the hospital ship USNS Mercy whose personnel are drawn from the hospital staff. The hospital is a major training facility associated with the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.

The following message was posted on the Naval Medical Center’s Facebook page:

**!ATTENTION!** An active shooter has just been been reported in building #26 at Naval Medical Center San Diego. All occupants are advised to run, hide or fight. All non-emergency response personnel are asked to stay away from the compound, located at 34800 Bob Wilson Drive, San Diego, CA 92134

Naval Base San Diego NBSD Hhas received reports of an active shooter on the base at Balboa medical center building 26. If you are in the vicinity, shelter in place. If in immediate danger, hide or seek shelter in secure space. Barricade the door and dial 9 1 1. Silence phones and other devices. Stay away from doors and windows. Remain calm and quiet. We are monitoring this page and will continue to provide updates.

Naval Base Point Loma has also been placed on lockdown in addition to the nearby San Diego City College. Officials at Naval Base Coronado have reportedly said that their facility is not on lockdown.
