A Virginia class nuclear-powered submarine and a French Aquitane class frigate have arrived in Scotland.
There is a steady flow of allied ships and submarines to and from Scotland, and all are routine visits despite speculation in the press.

Earlier in the year, nuclear submarines from three countries were berthed in HMNB Clyde at Faslane near Glasgow in Scotland. The American submarine was of the Virginia class and the French submarine was of the Rubis class. HM Naval Base Clyde – commonly known throughout the Navy as Faslane – is the Royal Navy’s main presence in Scotland.
It is home to the core of the Submarine Service, including the nation’s nuclear deterrent, and the new generation of hunter-killer submarines. The base is home to Trident nuclear missile-carrying Vanguard-class nuclear submarines in addition to Astute-class attack submarines and a number of smaller, conventional surface vessels.
The Royal Naval Armaments Depot at Coulport, 8 miles from Faslane, is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of key elements of the UK’s Trident Deterrent Missile System and the ammunitioning of all submarine embarked weapons.
While this might be routine, there is a lot ongoing. Germany has currently 3 frigates in Norway to guard critical infrastructure, just to give one example. This is an unusual deployment given the small size of our fleet.
Well, who would have guessed it, Faslane becoming quite the ‘tourist’ hotspot amongst our NATO allies! 🤣🤣
*provision of ammunition. At a push * provision of weaponry fired from under the surface but “ammunitioning” is perhaps the worst example of noun to verb “americanizationisationisms” I have come across yet! Truly awful!
😂😅
Should have stayed with ”Bombing up”
Le feck we say to your T26. ‘Ere we ave, the, how you say? Bees knees and it works. Mon dieu.
