Warships from Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway were captured by a drone as they arrived in Glasgow for a routine stop after a major NATO exercise.

The vessels were in Glasgow following the completion of this year’s Joint Warrior exercise, which ran from the 1st to 12th of October. It is understood the crews got a night off whilst the ships were refuelled and reloaded with perishables.

The three vessels.

“Joint Warrior is a UK-led biannual multinational joint and combined exercise that includes 45 ships, 30 aircraft, submarines, land forces, and more than 11,000 troops from the UK, NATO, and Allies. It runs from Oct. 1-12 off the coast of the British Isles.”

Below is a video, hosted on Twitter, that I recorded of the arrival of Norwegian frigate HNoMS Roald Amundsen, Danish ocean patrol vessel Vaederren and Dutch frigate HNLMS Tromp.

The exercise involved 45 ships, 30 aircraft, as well as submarines, sailors, soldiers and aircrew from Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

NATO say here that the aim of Joint Warrior 22-2 is “to provide a complex environment in which the participants can train together, honing tactics and skills in preparation for deployment as a Combined Joint Task Force”.

Participating nations include Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Belgium,  the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. You can read more about the exercise here.

I also photographed the arrival of Norwegian frigate HNoMS Roald Amundsen, Danish ocean patrol vessel Vaederren and Dutch frigate HNLMS Tromp.

Previously, as part of preparations ahead of the now concluded Exercise Joint Warrior, Belgian minehunter Bellis and Polish frigate ORP General Tadeusz Kościuszko visited the City of Glasgow.

The reply on Twitter is hilarious.
George says here’s some drone footage of the frigates from Netherlands and Norway.
The reply:
Are you sure about that, no flags and they all have an F on them which tends to be British for frigate
Hahahaha😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

😅 No she will be so desperate for money that she will invite the PLA to patrol the Emperor’s Wall. Called “inward investment” in SNP lingo. To the rest of us called ” one issue politics without thought for consequences”.

The more Westminster keep going from disaster to disaster the more appealing independence becomes for some. If Westminster could make it 3 months without a scandal or crisis it would be great

Be honest and look at the calibre of these people though. There is not one western politician with a clue. My conspiracy side says that’s what the WEF want in their headlong rush to have us all living like the Chinese. From Net Zero and all the rest.

I’m not much of a big conspiracy person. Normally when people try to hide things it’s only works when small numbers of people are involved. When we start looking at the larger numbers of people a world conspiracy would involve and then think that none of them would blab, there PA would blab, sent the conspiracy meeting minutes by email to the wrong person etc etc that’s what I struggle with.
I’m quite prepared to be completely wrong.

Reading about the Nansen, they seem nice ships. Especially for a small population country like Norway.
The have an 8 cell Mk41 that has quad packed ESSM in them. They can be upgraded to 2 or 4 8 cell mk42 depending on sources.
Norway seems to do the U.K. approach on new equipment. 6 subs to be replaced by 4. 6 PC-3 prions replaced by 5 P8 and so on. They still do well for a population the size of Scotland.

I always rated the Norwegians as amongst the best, their Home Guard used to “beat” us regularly on Northern Merger. Suppose being occupied by Adolph’s lot and Viking blood makes for efficiency.

True and it looks like things for the MoD may be getting worse and I think we can all agree that we can kiss the 3% of GDP for defence goodbye!

It would have been amusing if the footage had ended with a flash from one of the ships guns and a second later the video stopped.

Has HMG/MoD preserved the legal right to eliminate UAV surveillance of military facilities upon commencement of hostilities? Believe FAA regulates drone flight parameters/restrictions throughout US during peacetime. Presume DoD has input/authority during hostilities.

It doesn’t really need to. If there was a war emergency laws would be passed overnight that removed pretty much all restrictions and would allow the miltiary/police/goverment to do everything necessary to protect the nation.

Interesting to see is the Danish Thesis class patrol frigate’s enclosed boat alcove. The design keeps evolving.
