Footage shows A400M (Tail ZM417) meandering through the hills over Dolgellau and the Mach Loop.

An Atlas C.1 (A400M) operated by crews from 30 Squadron, out of RAF Brize Norton, recently conducted a low-level training sortie across the United Kingdom that finished going through the Machynlleth Loop or Mach Loop.

According to the Royal Air Force:

“Sorties such as this provide challenging training opportunities for our crews, ultimately, sharpening their skills to fly their aircraft operationally when called upon by the Ministry of Defence. This particular sortie was all the more important with one of the aircrafts Captains being the first pilot to reach 3000 flying hours behind the controls of the A400M.”

Flt Lt Jackson, who amongst other things is a pilot of the iconic Lancaster of the Royal Air Forces, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, said, “We carried out three simulated cargo drops in Glencoe and the Western Isles before proceeding South to Wales. The weather was simply glorious, perfect for this 30 Sqn training sortie, and it was a wonderful way to mark this personal milestone.”

Always good to see some heavy metal in the Mach Loop, it’s quite possibly the best place to celebrate this milestone while undertaking essential training at the same time 👍👏👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿✈️

Thought we already had though it may have been the Jordanians who physically carried it out.

Saw a video of Ukranian helicopter so low its wheels occasionally touched the ground. Seems the only way copters can reliably survive in such an environment, which perhaps holds lessons for our own (everyone’s) future procurement policies, Clearly the Americans have decided recon copters have little future at the front.

Only US and Jordan have done aid drops to Gaza. Don’t think we had anything to do with the latter.

All I think is what an easy shot with a man pad or Sam that must be.
Hope the counter measures can do their job.
