Pakistan has signed a government to government deal to acquire 34 Cessna Tweet T37 trainer aircraft free of cost from Turkey.

The Cessna T-37 Tweet is a small, twin-engined jet trainer which flew for decades as a primary trainer for the United States Air Force and in the air forces of several other nations.

The first T-37 was completed in September 1955 and flew later that year.

The T-37 served as the US Air Force’s primary pilot training vehicle for over 52 years after its first flight. With a total of 1,269 Cessna T-37s built, the USAF retired its last T-37 in 2009.

The Pakistani Air Force already owns 73 Cessna Tweet T37 aircraft.

The Cessna Tweet can be bought off eBay and Craigslist by aircraft enthusiasts, it’ll be interesting to see how this works out for Pakistan.
