German police are hunting three attackers after a shooting in Munich put a shopping centre into lockdown.

The shooting was reported in the shopping mall Olympia-Einkaufszentrum earlier today. A police spokesman called the incident a “shooting spree”.

German media have cited a police spokesperson who stated several people have been killed and more injured. The attackers are currently at large.

At least six people are known to have died during the attack. The number of casualties is as of yet unknown.

The area around the OEZ shopping centre in the centre of the German city has been sealed off as the gunman is tracked down. Pictures are coming from the scene of people fleeing and what appears to be a body on the floor.

Public transport in the city has been suspended, while police reinforcements are being drafted in from Austria to assist. The German-Austrian border is just 42 miles from Munich

Very little is known at this stage.
