President Donald J. Trump has ordered a large-scale military operation against Houthi rebels in Yemen, announcing the action in a dramatic statement on Truth Social.

The U.S. military is currently carrying out airstrikes against Houthi targets, with Trump vowing that their attacks on American and allied shipping “will not be tolerated.”

In his statement, Trump accused the Biden administration of failing to curb the Houthi threat, claiming that “Joe Biden’s response was pathetically weak, so the unrestrained Houthis just kept going.”

He asserted that it has been over a year since “a U.S.-flagged commercial ship safely sailed through the Suez Canal, the Red Sea, or the Gulf of Aden.” He further noted that the last U.S. warship to transit the Red Sea, four months ago, had been attacked “over a dozen times” by the Houthis.

The Houthis, who Trump described as “funded by Iran,” have repeatedly launched missile and drone attacks on shipping in the Red Sea, significantly disrupting global trade. Trump stated that the rebels have “choked off shipping in one of the most important waterways of the world, grinding vast swaths of global commerce to a halt, and attacking the core principle of freedom of navigation upon which international trade and commerce depends.”

Declaring that U.S. forces were now striking “terrorists’ bases, leaders, and missile defenses,” Trump said the goal was to “protect American shipping, air, and naval assets, and to restore navigational freedom.” He warned that “no terrorist force will stop American commercial and naval vessels from freely sailing the waterways of the world.”

Trump also delivered a strong message to Iran, demanding that it “end support for the Houthi terrorists immediately.” He warned against any threats to the United States or its allies, stating that “if you do, BEWARE, because America will hold you fully accountable and, we won’t be nice about it!”

In a final warning to the Houthis, Trump declared: “YOUR TIME IS UP, AND YOUR ATTACKS MUST STOP, STARTING TODAY. IF THEY DON’T, HELL WILL RAIN DOWN UPON YOU LIKE NOTHING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE!”

The decision to strike the Houthis marks a significant escalation of U.S. military involvement in the region. While the Biden administration had conducted limited retaliatory strikes, Trump has now committed to a more aggressive campaign aimed at “using overwhelming lethal force until we have achieved our objective.”

  1. Yes, just what we need on top of the trade war is the Red Sea closed to shipping again.

Not sure if we are involved this time, hope not.

  2. What I find very interesting is there was no token UK involvement. The question was the UK invited and chose not to support or just not invited… I suspect the latter to be honest.

    • They don’t need so called allies, the US has pretty much done everything alone over the years, only needing allies as a political token! Europe is so militarily and politically weak, it and us, can be more of a hindrance!

      • He says that but the US is still the only country to invoke article 5 and even when knowing it was just junior finishing of what daddy didn’t have the backbone to do, the rest of us still showed up to support them. Talk about a lack of gratitude and humility.

  5. The UK didn’t take part since the election as far as I remember, I am referring to the elections in the UK BTW
