  1. Reduce the length of your privacy policy a tad, and you might get more sign ups. 5,000 words of how you intend to use my personal data doesn’t instill confidence.

    • Jon, what? It’s the bare legal minimum. It is required by law… confidence in what? Are you expecting “don’t worry about it pal” instead?

      • 😆Morning George. We also drowning in red tape and reams of paper
here in SA!! My old man walked into the Standard Bank in Durban in July 1963 and after a handshake with the Manager😉opened an account in less than an hour!! Oh for the simpler life
        Cheers from Durban

      • I didn’t spot that this is the full UKDJ privacy notice and forgot there’s siginificant extra advertising and processing of presumably targetted adverts when I view it on my phone. I was expecting a privacy delta for the newsletter.

I have seen privacy statements that boil down to: “we won’t use your personal information for reasons other than the delivery of the newsletter, and we won’t pass it on to any third party.” Finding a statement that size when I didn’t have time to read it was what prompted my comment. I know, it’s an excellent, free-to-access journal which needs advertising to support it, and the advertising needs legal bumph.

I also worry when being called pal by a Glaswegian. I’m not sure why. 😉

  2. A very wise investment!
