Royal Air Force Typhoon jets and personnel have deployed to Romania under Operation Biloxi to support NATO air policing operations in the Black Sea region, according to the RAF.

The deployment involves moving aircraft, personnel, equipment and support infrastructure from the UK to Romania, requiring coordinated airlift and preparation to ensure the force is ready to operate on arrival.

Strategic airlift aircraft have transported essential equipment and supplies, while engineering teams have established the infrastructure needed to sustain operations. Once in theatre, personnel are maintaining aircraft readiness to respond at short notice.

Wing Commander Daryl, Detachment Commander, said: “Deploying a fighter detachment from the UK to Romania is a significant undertaking, our people have shown exceptional professionalism throughout.”

He added: “From engineering to logistics and aircrew, every member of the team has played a vital role in ensuring we arrived ready to deliver NATO air policing from day one. It’s a clear demonstration of the RAF’s ability to project air power wherever it’s required.”

The deployment sees RAF personnel operating alongside Romanian and other NATO forces, contributing to the Alliance’s air policing mission in the region.
