Elbit Systems has been awarded a contract worth approximately $100 million by General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) to provide its UT30 MK2 unmanned turret systems for ASCOD armoured fighting vehicles, according to a news update issued by the company in late April.
The systems will be delivered to an unspecified NATO European country, with the contract set to run until the end of 2027. Elbit said the deal includes industrial cooperation with local firms, supporting regional supply chains and maintenance capabilities.
The UT30 MK2 is a low-profile, unmanned turret designed to improve the firepower and survivability of armoured vehicles while maintaining troop safety.
Elbit describes the turret as modular and adaptable, capable of supporting both manned and unmanned configurations, with features including a 30mm main gun, coaxial 7.62mm weapon, and Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs).
Additional features include Level 4 armour protection, Iron Fist Active Protection System, and a suite of integrated electro-optic systems developed in-house to enhance battlefield performance.
Yehuda (Udi) Vered, General Manager of Elbit Systems Land, said the company was pleased to expand its presence in Europe with another NATO customer. “We are very proud to have been selected by an additional NATO European user following the very successful firing tests evaluation on the ASCOD platform,” he said.
Vered added that the partnership with GDELS reflects confidence in Elbit’s offerings: “This contract reflects the trust placed in our capabilities and our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of modern land forces.”
The deal follows a series of recent efforts by Elbit to grow its footprint across Europe, particularly in the armoured vehicle systems market.

Yes Latvia have just purchased 42 Ascod ifv from Spain . They can fit 3 crew plus 6 full combat ready soldiers.They sound perfectly reasonable . I wonder if UK will eventually go down this road when the Ajax program is mostly finished , hopefully hulls made in uk not Spain 🙂 . . Makes sense with Welsh factory plant .
Yes, easy choice thay should fit the UK Ares or an Ares+stretch variant. I think there’s RWS variant of the CT40 so they might want to standardise with Ajax and wait for that. Lots of waiting for any new IFV especially if tracked. They must be taking one serious notes from Ukraine.
