Lockheed Martin is to create more than 300 jobs in Glasgow.
The jobs will be at the Skypark office building in Finnieston, Glasgow. It is understood that the new jobs would be central to the international growth of Lockheed’s information systems business, aiming to serve UK Ministry of Defence contracts.
Lockheed Martin is one of the world’s largest companies in the aerospace, defence, security, and technologies industry; it is the world’s largest defence contractor based on revenue for fiscal year 2014.
The company is also one of the leading partners in the F-35 fighter programme.
Sondra Barbour, executive vice president said:
“International growth is critical to the long-term growth strategy of our information systems business. Given the scale of local ICT innovation, flagship universities and science, technology, engineering and maths initiatives, we see Glasgow and central Scotland as the ideal location to increase our UK presence.”
The company is the UK-based arm of Lockheed Martin Corporation, a global security and aerospace company. The company employs more than 3,000 people in the UK across 21 sites, working on a wide range of major programmes spanning the aerospace, defence and civil sectors.
