The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) arrived in Larnaca, Cyprus, on November 30, 2024, for a scheduled port visit, according to a press release.

This visit underscores the shared commitment of the United States and the Republic of Cyprus to enhancing stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Prior to its arrival, the Bulkeley conducted manoeuvring exercises with the Cypriot offshore patrol vessel Commodore Andreas Ioannides (P61) on November 29.

“This patrol has been a professionally rewarding experience for this hardworking crew,” said Commander Arturo Trejo, commanding officer of the Bulkeley. “I can think of no better opportunity than a stop in Larnaca to experience this historic country.”

While in Larnaca, the crew will have the chance to rest and explore the area. Yeoman First Class Joshua Kelley expressed the crew’s enthusiasm, saying, “We are extremely thankful and excited to see Cyprus.”

The Bulkeley is deployed in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, operating under the U.S. 6th Fleet to support U.S., Allied, and partner interests. Embedded aboard the destroyer are the “Griffins” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 79, adding to its operational versatility.

The U.S. 6th Fleet, based in Naples, Italy, oversees a broad range of naval operations, often in collaboration with Allied and interagency partners, to advance U.S. national interests and regional stability across Europe and Africa.
