The F-35A declared an emergency whilst in flight.

The incident occurred around 2pm when the aircraft declared an emergency by ‘squawking 7700’. More about that is below.

I have asked the U.S. Air Force for comment.

What is the significance of “Squawking 7700”?

Captain Hoke is a Boeing 757/767 captain for a package express airline and also runs the website AeroSavvy, he had this to say.

“Declaring an emergency means the crew determines they have an ‘urgency’ or ‘distress’ situation. “Urgency” means the crew is concerned about the safety of the flight and needs timely (but not necessarily immediate) assistance. A ‘distress’ condition means that the flight is in serious and/or imminent danger and requires immediate assistance”.

So urgent that it returned to base instead of landing at numerous RAF bases available closer.

Thankfully Eric, just like the one in Texas did. What was the cause of the problem?

Thank you in advance.

No idea of cause but it was not likely very serious. Perhaps his drink bottle had stopped pumping. Lol.

With over 890 aircraft in service, the F35 has a pretty outstanding safety record considering the numbers now flying. When the F16 entered service the USAF lost on average one aircraft a month for the first few years of service.

I thought all F35s were grounded over that incident in the US?

Ones with fewer than 40 flight hours. Reasoning if issue hadnt presented before then they would probably be fine.

Hi Ralph, only a small number were grounded with less than 40hrs flight times.

Maintenance problems seem to be the main cause of grounding at the moment.

28 Dec 2022

“Moreover, in February 2022 36 F-35As were grounded simply due to lack of operable engines, a number that has increased year over year since 2020 according to the General Accounting Office which concluded that the extended time it takes to repair the complex F135 means the Pentagon lacks enough spare engines.”

I’m making 80 US dollars for every hr. to finish some internet providers from home. I absolutely never thought it would try and be reachable anyway. My comrade mate got $13k just in about a month effectively doing this best task and furthermore she persuaded me to profit. Visit for more details.. https://makesmoneyguru.blogspot.com/

What does this really mean, Clayton ?
