A series of awe-inspiring images show the Northern Lights above HMS Prince of Wales.

The carrier tweeted the following.

NATO warships RECENTLY joined HMS Prince of Wales for the start of exercises off the UK coast. The carrier and her task force practised sailing in close formation and learned how different navies operate as they began Joint Warrior – testing the readiness of the UK Carrier Strike Group and its ability to deter threats.

Royal Navy frigate HMS Portland and tankers RFA Tideforce and Tidespring joined Prince of Wales last week and their numbers were bolstered by Royal Canadian ship Navy Halifax-class frigate HMCS Charlottetown; Spanish Navy Alvaro de Bazan-class air defence frigate SNS Cristobal Colon and Danish Navy Iver Huitfeldt-class frigate HMDS Niels Juel.

HMS Prince of Wales is now under NATO command for the first time since 2022.

  1. New builds to replace RFA Fort Victoria spring to mind if required this side of 2030.

“Tideforce, along with her three sister ships, was built by DSME in South Korea. As the fourth and final Tide-class vessel, her steel was first cut on 2 December 2015 prior to being laid down on 24 December 2015. Around nine months later, the ship was fully assembled and floated out by 12 September 2016.”

        • It is indeed Nigel, both you and another use have been placed into moderation due to frequent issues. Could you please not be passive-aggressive here?

          • Can you please show me where I have been George? I was not the one making veiled threats as you may recall.

            Dear Nigel,

Hope you’re keeping well. Just dropping you a line about the situation that’s unfolded and the communications we’ve had. Your input and enthusiasm for the UK Defence Journal are highly valued, but there are a couple of things we need to smooth over to keep our community running smoothly.

Firstly, a bit of patience on your end would really help out. With our comment moderation team member currently on leave, I’m stepping in to fill the gap in my free time. Receiving multiple emails on the same issue isn’t just overwhelming; it detracts from the time I can dedicate to nurturing the content and community interactions that you and all our readers value. A little breathing room for me to respond would be greatly appreciated.

We’ve had a chat with Robert about the concerns raised, aiming to ensure our platform remains a respectful environment for all our discussions. On the note of involving the police, while it’s your right to take any action you deem necessary, we’re keen to keep the atmosphere positive and focused on constructive debate. Threatening police involvement doesn’t help with that aim.

To help maintain a positive dialogue within our community, comments from both you and Robert will be under moderation for the time being. This isn’t a matter of taking sides but ensuring our discussions remain constructive and enjoyable for everyone involved.

It’s crucial for us to work together and respect the guidelines, especially now as I manage these responsibilities in my free time. This approach will help keep the UK Defence Journal a place we’re all proud to be part of, filled with the friendly, informative banter we all cherish.

          • Nigel, it is absolutely inappropriate for you to be posting private communications from ourselves in a public forum. It has been dealt with, move on.

          • “Passive-aggressive behaviour is a pattern of indirectly expressing negative feelings instead of openly addressing them. There’s a disconnect between what a person who exhibits passive-aggressive behaviour says and what he or she does.”

Openly addressing them as you suggest George. Veiled threat and verbal abuse from Robert Blay:

This comment is abusive with a veiled threat of violence. How much longer do I have to put up with this from Robert Blay.

Try adding a comment without resorting to Google and copying and pasting, and looking up old articles. You are a very sad human being Nigel.

That won’t even be your real name is it? Everyone can see you for who you are Nigel. A nobody, that hates anything British. Cluess about anything to do with defence.

Child like at best when it comes to carrier strike and F35. Typing the same old crap year after year. While nations continue to order F35’s. Over 500 in EU airforces alone by 2030. Not including USAF assets You talk about an engine upgrade like its a bad thing

Name a single frontline fast jet that hasn’t received an engine upgrade during its service. Cluesses is putting it very politely when it comes to you.

I’d love to meet you in person Nigel. Though I doubt you even exist. In the real world anyway. Let’s see if your AI chat can come up with a human sounding response to that.

          • Why have you pasted remarks from Robert to me here when you’ve already sent them to me via email and the matter has been closed? The issue here is your remarks regarding your comments being moderated. Nigel, this is taking up far too much of my time.
